From Slow Tech Educator to Confessional Blogger
you might still learn something, but at least it won't be boring AF
When I thought of starting the blog, my goal was to help people improve their relationship with technology. I felt qualified to do that, as I’ve struggled with it myself for the last 10 years, and tried many things (some successful and others not so much): from silent retreats and locking my phone in a kitchen safe to quitting social media.
But I sat back and I realized that it was no fun writing those “educational” posts. They’ve been sitting in my draft folder; drab, dry, maybe too preachy or perfect (not the writing itself, the writing is still horrendous, but with the image of someone who is “perfect” in the way that they use technology). But this journey is MESSY AF. Sometimes hilarious. Sometimes infuriating. Sometimes insightful. And sometimes just plain BORING (try sitting in front of a painting for 3 fucking hours without your phone). So I decided to go with something different.
(read this next sentence as the Declaration of Independence)
I will therefore henceforth recount all of my experiences truthfully, as I’m finding and trying new ways to fight the trillion-dollar industry for my freedom of attention. Yes, the odds are not ever in my favor, but so help me Tengri, I’m going to try.
*no animals were harmed in the making of this blog, except for my cats, who were occasionally deprived of their hourly photoshoots, as I tried to avoid using my phone.
